Franchot Tone stars as Jimmy, a newspaper artist and family friend to Mimi (Myrna Loy) in the 1938 romantic comedy Man-Proof. Also in the film are Walter Pidgeon and Rosalind Russell. The daughter of a successful romance novelist, Mimi is hopelessly in love with Alan, Walter Pidgeon's character, who marries Elizabeth (Rosalind Russell) instead.

As her wisecracking friend and sparring partner, Jimmy imparts common sense and encourages Mimi to get over Alan once and for all. Determined to get over her infatuation, Mimi becomes a commercial artist for the newspaper, but is soon distracted by Alan when he returns from his honeymoon.
Franchot plays the clever, reliable guy-next-door. Mimi is searching for the perfect man, but doesn't realize he is right in front of her eyes! Man-Proof is a simple story, but sweet comedy and the scenes shared by Myrna Loy and Franchot are not to be missed.
